Pitworthiness Considerations
for manufacturers of ignition protected
electrical equipment intended for use in
potentially explosive atmospheres in
UK mines.
Although now superceded in many ways technically by more recent publications of updated standards, this 36 page document still gives a very good overview of how HM Mines Inspectorate view different types of electrical equipment. The final appendix includes a copy of the general “Approval” document which gives permission for ATEX Category M1 and M2 Equipment to be used in a UK Mine.
