IECEx Certification Mark.jpg

Customers of Baseefa are now able to apply to use an internationally-recognised certification mark for machinery and equipment used in hazardous atmospheres.

This follows the news that the Buxton company has been accepted as an official IECEx Mark Licensing Body by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). Baseefa's customers will now be able to apply to obtain permission to use the new IECEx Mark on their equipment - a safety assurance which is recognised throughout the world.

Alan Barber, head of Baseefa's licencing arm, said: "Licencing the IECEx Mark only came into operation last year, and it is the only international mark recognised throughout the world for equipment used in hazardous atmospheres".

"Using the mark demonstrates that the equipment has been tested and assessed to the highest worldwide standards. As the IECEx scheme becomes more readily accepted as a world standard, displaying the mark will demonstrate our customers' concern for the safe operation of their machinery and equipment."

The Mark demonstrates to users and customers compliance with the requirements of the relevant IEC Standards with no national differences and with other IECEx recognised documents, as approved by the IECEx Management Committee. Applications can only be made by the manufacturer of the equipment which is the subject of an IECEx Certificate of Conformity issued by Baseefa.

For more details and information on the scheme, see the Baseefa and IECEx websites (www.baseefa.com and www.iecex.com) or contact Alan Barber at alan.barber@baseefa.com
