The IECEx International Certification Scheme has recently introduced an extension to its activities and has made provision for internationally recognised certification of the capabilities of Service Facilities operating in the field of Ex Equipment.

Baseefa is pleased to have been the first certification body to apply join the scheme and is already working to the procedures.  Under the IECEx rules, formal launch will take place when the scheme has accepted certification bodies from a minimum of three member countries.  With the amount of interest that was expressed during the IECEx Management Committee Meeting in hosted by Baseefa at Buxton in October 2005, it is anticipated that the formal launch will be in the first half of 2006.

Much of the new scheme is written around workshops offering repair facilities to IEC 60079-19 and it is anticipated that most customers will fall into this category, but the scheme does allow for other related activities.
